If you are looking for a cheap puppy............Look elsewhere!!!

There are plenty of breeders who offer and can afford to sell "cheap puppies" because they have little or no money and/or time invested in the parents or a proper breeding program and they could care less where their puppies end up. They will mate two dogs together because they are the same breed and they could care less about the lineage or background, they do not even care if they are breeding to a dog that meets the breed standards.
Most of the time they can't even tell you anything about the parents of the dogs that they are using to breed from, let alone the health or temperaments of the parents and the grandparents of those dogs.
Quite often, these "cheap puppies" end up costing the unsuspecting public more than a well bred puppy that was raised and loved by a reputable breeder who does the proper testing and research and who breeds only the best of the best to produce the total package of health, intelligence, great looks and temperament. Longevity and quality of life is our goal and we stand behind our lines.
Sadly, many unsuspecting puppy buyers who go in search of a "cheap puppy" end up paying much more in the long run when they buy a "cheap puppy" because many of them end up spending thousands in vet bills, for issues like mange, allergies, heart problems, Degenerative Myopathy, and many other common ailments that plague boxers, their entire families also pay a huge emotional toll as they watch their beloved boxer suffer and often times expire or need to be euthanized due to these afflictions. I have heard plenty of horror stories, enough to last me a lifetime.
If you are looking for a puppy that has come from heart cleared parents, a puppy who's lines can be traced back to several generations of health tested ancestors, from a breeder who has taken the time and researched those lines in order to only breed boxers from the highest quality and healthiest lines, a breeder who offers a "true" Health Guarantee in writing, a breeder who has poured endless hours and thousands of dollars into finding and purchasing her dogs and into their care once they are here, a breeder who is constantly researching the breed, passing helpful info to her puppy buyers new and old, a breeder who spends countless hours nurturing, loving, socializing and training her puppies, a breeder who spares no expense in vet care and training aids and toys for her big dogs and her puppies, a breeder who feeds the very best dog food to her dogs and puppies, a breeder who connects puppy owners to each other (if they want to) so that they can keep in contact with the siblings of their puppies, a breeder who will be here for you 24/7 for the life of your boxer, if you have a question or need help and you realize that this kind of quality and service will not come at a "cheap price" because it would be impossible, then please feel free to continue reading:)
One last word of advise, our prices are very comparable for European Boxers from other US breeders however, there are plenty of breeders who charge prices similar to ours and they do not have the same quality of boxers that we do and they do not provide the quality of time and care that we do, they have also not done the research on their breeding dogs, please be cautious and ask questions before purchasing your Boxer puppy.

Wakena's Boxers Policy

We have been advised by our vets that the general public should not be allowed inside our home and that puppies should not be picked up by new owners until they are 8 weeks of age at which time they have had their first puppy vaccination and some immunity has built up against infectious diseases and illnesses. There is a real danger that diseases can migrate into our home and puppies that are not yet vaccinated will be susceptible to these viruses and bacteria.
At first I did not understand the no visiting policy that many breeders had, they did not allow people into their homes or to their kennels, I thought maybe they were hiding something. However, after having my own breeding program, I knew exactly why they had this policy in place. I truly appreciate a breeder that is careful with visitors around their kennel and their puppies. You will find that many breeders, ones that truly care, will have some kind of visitation policy. All reputable breeders make it a priority to protect their dogs and puppies.

In the best interest of our puppies and adult Boxers, we are very careful about preventing the transmission of diseases to them. We take every precaution that we can to make sure that our puppies are not exposed to any kinds of disease that you may carry on your shoes or even on your hands. These diseases can be picked up and carried on your shoes for days, anywhere a dog has been, parks, pet stores, rest stops, parking lots, anywhere. Therefore as a precaution no one is allowed to touch or handle or visit while unvaccinated puppies are on the premises.

We loved people coming and meeting the puppies and the parents however it is very risky and exposes them to infectious diseases and putts the already bought puppies at risk; we do not allow visitors in our home, no exceptions. Our home is where current litters and future litters will be housed and we do not want anything carried in to the puppies or premises. If you are interested in one of our puppies, we will provide photos and videos on our website and email you photos and information on puppies. When you reserve a puppy with us , we send out photos and information by email each week so families can watch their puppies grow! At 8 weeks of age, you may take them home with you. You are more than welcome to pick up your puppy but I will meet you outside the house with the puppy. You can also see the mom and dad but at a distance you are not allowed to go and pet on them. Because they also live in the house with the puppies and I don't want them to carry anything into the puppies.
if you are picking up your puppy please stop somewhere and use the restroom before coming because you will not be able to use my house bathroom and please bring hand sanitizer and I will provide shoe booties for you to put on when you step out of the car.
Also we do not allow any other dogs or animals around our dogs/puppies. PLEASE leave your other animals at home, as they will not be allowed out of your vehicle, another precaution for our dogs and puppies.

Think of how you would feel for me to call you and tell you that your puppy is
sick or has died from the results of me allowing visitors in my home and they
have carried in some kind of infectious diseases in
to your puppy. That would be very devastating not only to you but to me to. My puppies are like my kid's, I love them just as much. I’ve never had to make a call like that and hope I never will. Puppies are like newborn babies, until all shots are complete; they are susceptible to many different diseases and illnesses.
Below is information on one devastating puppy virus; one that can be carried in easily if one isn’t very careful.

Parvo- (parvovirus), Canine Parvovirus, commonly referred to as parvo, is a very serious viral disease in dogs. The most common form of Parvo is intestinal and most commonly seen today. It causes extreme damage to the lining of the digestive tract. Parvo likes to grow in rapidly dividing cells and the intestinal lining has the biggest concentration of rapidly dividing cells in a puppy’s body. The virus attacks and destroys certain portions of the intestinal tract. Even with this form of Parvo, heart muscle damage may also occur.
Symptoms: Loss of appetite, Vomiting, Lethargy, High Fever, Diarrhea, often bloody, Foul smelling, liquid yellow stool.
Parvovirus causes severe life-threatening illness, through dehydration, acid-base imbalance, infection and shock. If you suspect your pet may be infected, it is an emergency and you should contact your veterinarian immediately. Parvo is carried by dogs. Adult dogs may be infected carriers and not show signs. Dogs with the typical symptoms and diarrhea shed the virus perhaps for as long as 7 days after the symptoms have ended. Generally, it takes 3 to 10 days from the time of exposure for symptoms to appear and for your dog or pup to test positive. The onset of clinical signs is usually sudden, within 12 hours, or even less. The Parvovirus is particularly long-lived in the environment, lasting anywhere from 1 to 7 months, or even a year. Due to the large amounts of virus particles shed in the feces of an infected dog and the ability of the virus to survive, complete eradication of the virus is often impossible.
Parvo may be brought home to your pup on shoes, hands, and even your vehicle tires. Even if your dog or pup does not leave your yard, they may get this disease if precautions aren’t taken.
STUDIES HAVE SHOWN THAT PARVO CAN STAY IN THE STOOL OF ‘PARVO SURVIVORS’ FOR UP TO 6 MONTHS, WITH THE PUPPY/DOG SHOWING NO SIGNS OF PARVO.
****Taking precautions should never stop here; you need and should do the same when your puppy is home and until all vaccines are completed.

In order to protect your (reserved) puppy and our own dogs, we must enforce this visitor's policy.
Thank you for understanding our protective policy.

For the Love of Boxers

To Sergeant, My Inspiration

How I Fell In Love With the Boxer

In June of 2001 we received an offer to a champion bred beautiful stud Boxer. He was 5 years old and when I met him he was living chained outside and sleeping in an old dog house. The people who owned him were moving 10 hours away and didn’t want to have to deal with him.
The first thing my Mom said when she saw him was, “NO!”  She thought he looked like a very thin bulldog. My parents had never liked bulldogs and were very uncomfortable having one in our home, especially with all the grandchildren around. We took him home for a two day trial, my parents said if he had any issues we would consider a different home.
I immediately started searching for boxer information on the internet. I called several people and spent hours on the phone with reputable boxer breeders. I was hoping to get so much information that I could prove my parent wrong and keep him. What I found and learned didn’t even come close to what Sergeant taught us himself.
From the first day he was at our house he followed my dad around the yard as he did his work and laid by my feet while I did my homework. My mom still wasn’t sold on the whole idea and kept her distance for a while. But from the face full of kisses to those puppy dog eyes there were no exceptions. Sergeant became one of the Family and made a very big impression on all the children that came to our home.
We had rescued several dogs from bad situations in our life but he was different. I didn’t realize why till later but it was because he was a boxer. If you ever own a boxer you understand how having one changes your life. They somehow know what you are thinking just by your body language. When I was sad he was right there to comfort me. When I was happy he was all ready to play. And when I was scared he became a very different dog. He was very protective of our family and any children that came here. I remember that one second he would be alert and keeping an eye on everything, and then a child was pulling his ears and climbing on top of him.
He was the first dog I had ever completely trusted. He made way for me to open up and learn to trust. Sergeant coming into our lives was the best thing that ever happened to us. He changed the way we live, think, and especially LOVE. We had Sergeant for over 5 years when he passed away. We know there will never be another boxer quite like him.
